Liner Notes

I wrote this one thinking about the unfortunate souls taken too soon because of this pandemic. I am sad to think of those who could have been saved by better leaders. I am sad to think we may lose John Prine. I am sad…

For this song I wanted to use my shiny new EZ Keys software to see if I could really write a song with this lovely piano software package. And holy schmoley, I believe I can!

Lyrics

Time To Say Goodbye
April 4, 2020

when we began
our hearts were young
remember all the
things we’ve done

a touch of sadness
loads of fun
no song
left unsung

and now it seems
the time has come
to walk together
into the sun
the dying light
brings on the night
time to say goodbye

a pinch of grief
a million smiles
we held each other
across the miles

trails we hiked
hills we climbed
forever
in our minds

and now they say
the time has come
to walk together
into the sun
the dying light
brings on the night
time to say goodbye

please give us one more hour
to remember
please give us one more day
we won’t forget
please stop the car
and let us pick some flowers
by the road
we know it’s time
but we are not done yet

but still they say
the time has come
to walk together
into the sun
the dying light
brings on the night
time to say goodbye
